Bye Bye Mimis

We had a BIG day in our house last Saturday! Eliza said goodbye to her beloved mimis!

This girl had a serious LOVE (maybe addiction?) to her pacifiers.

Thanks to my sister-in-laws tips (she's been successful with this method twice) Eliza is pacifier free! I was skeptical that it would work with as much ease as it did for Lindsey's children but it did!

About 5 days before the planned departure we started talking to Eliza about saying goodbye to her mimis because she is a big girl and that we were going to send her mimis to the babies. I'm not really sure she knew what this meant but she definitely started associating her mimis with babies.

When Saturday morning rolled around (which also happened to be my birthday!) we gathered up all of her mimis and put them in an envelope. (She put each one in her mouth before putting them in the envelope!)

Eliza proudly walked them to the mailbox and said goodbye!

Our next stop was the toy store for a big girl prize! Eliza picked out a diaper bag of goodies for her babies.

She did really well without her mimis while we were out. It wasn't until we headed home around naptime that she got upset. She kept asking for her mimis and I simply reminded her that we sent them to the babies. So, naturally, when we got home her first stop was the mailbox! Will had already removed them so we didn't have to explain why they were still there but couldn't have them...

The beginning of naptime was a little rough that day. Eliza usually goes down without a peep but not that day. Understandably so.

It's been a week since we took them away and she is still pacifier free! She asks for them sometimes but is quickly reminded that they went to the babies.

I'm so thankful that something I was so nervous about taking away from her has been a good experience for all of us! :)

I just love this picture of her and Weldon "playing" in his crib one morning.

Life According to my iPhone

This is from about 3 weeks ago but for some reason didn't post...

Lawrence has a great outdoor pool with a zero-entry kids area. Eliza enjoys it (most of the time)!

Helping daddy cut the grass.

Morning snuggles with daddy.

Learning how to pump...

Love and sweet smiles from the children on Fathers Day.

Love this little guys smiles! He's always ready for one.

Eliza's first visit to a makeup counter.

1st ride in a carousel. She wasn't sure what to think about it.

A fun trip to the grocery store complete with a car ride and a sugar cookie!

Postpartum Workouts

I'm finally getting back into gear with my workouts and it feels great! It's been almost 4 months since Weldon was born so I'm definitely ready to get my body into shape!

It's a bit tricker this time around to find the time to consistently workout because we have two little ones to care for now. I've tried a couple of different things and I think I finally found a time that works. The early morning! I've always been a morning person so it's not too hard for me to get up but I definitely didn't think this is when I would consistently workout.

I tried going on runs and/or to the gym around 7:15am (after feeding Weldon) since Will is around to watch both children but I really love that time with my family in the mornings! So that didn't stick.

Working out in the afternoons/evening is not even up for debate. If I don't workout before 11am it's just not happening!

So, my new plan of action is to workout at 5:30am. It's early. Especially when my alarm goes off at 4:50 (have to drink some coffee before I can get my body moving that early). Weldon is sleeping longer stretches now and even through the night a couple of times so the early morning seems more manageable now. I've found that the key to working out that early is taking a class at the gym. I need someone telling me what to do at that time of day to really make it worth my time!

I'm trying to workout 5 days a week. MWF the gym offers a 5:30am Spin Class and TThSat there is a Group Power (weight lifting) class. I'm usually waking up early 4 days a week and then going to the 9am Group Power on Saturdays.

So far so good. Working out is really enjoyable for me and it makes me feel like myself again (after having a baby). I'm still about 10 pounds over my goal weight so I'm hoping the regular workouts will help me get there!

I'll post an update in a few months to see how the workouts are going!
