Baby Weldon's Nursery

I have had so much fun planning Weldon's nursery. I knew the color scheme I wanted for a boy nursery since my first pregnancy. The color scheme is based on this Lacefield Designs pillow. I think it's so masculine and classic.

We had to do some bedroom rearranging before we could start decorating since we initially setup the third (upstairs) bedroom as a guest bedroom. Now we have both nurseries upstairs along with our bedroom and the guest bedroom downstairs (in Will's former office).

The hardest decision I had to make for the nursery was the crib and dresser. I didn't want to spend much money on either of them but I also wanted pieces I really liked. Decisions, decisions... Since Eliza has a white crib and dresser I really didn't want to go that route nor did I want to go the dark wood route. When I found these amazingly priced pieces from IKEA in a gray-brown color I was immediately sold (crib & dresser)! I absolutely love them. I'm so glad to have a dresser that we actually like and will want to keep for a long time.

We also picked up some picture ledges from IKEA to use as a bookshelf.

The bedding for Weldon's nursery is the same as Eliza's, Serena and Lily basic crib bedding, I just purchased the one with green trim and some coordinating sheets.

I also got the Serena and Lily changing pad to match the bedding.

I loved the Pottery Barn Boppy cover I used with Eliza that I purchased this khaki one for Weldon.

My other Pottery Barn purchase was this mobile I found on sale.

The other things in the room just fell into place because we already owned them. The glider is from Eliza's room, pallet above the crib was made by Will, the European deer mount is from Will's collection (of course), and the floor lamp and side table were in other places around the house.

I have two other things to hang on the wall but they haven't arrived/aren't hung. One is this animal alphabet and the other are picture frames.

I'm so happy about how Weldon's nursery turned out and look forward to spending many hours in here with our sweet baby boy!

16 Months

I know I say this every month but every day with Eliza just gets better and better! I love our little girl more with each passing day! I can only imagine the love that is going to fill our hearts when Weldon is born.

I love Eliza's outgoing and bubbly personality! She is always making me laugh.

She loves being with people and has become a talkative little thing. We aren't always sure what she's saying but we can usually figure out what she wants. Some of the words she is saying well are: dadda, momma, woof-woof, papa, night-night, baby, milk, eyes, book, water, pease (please), cheese, ice (her newest obsession), jack (her buddy at day care) and ball.

Eliza has recently been having the most fun playing with ice cubes, it's so funny. I fill up an ice cube tray with ice and then she will transfer them to bowls, small containers, other ice cube trays, and cups. This entertains her for about 20 minutes! That's a LONG time for our little girl to be entertained by one thing.

We just recently changed Eliza's daily schedule and dropped her morning nap. We kept two as long as we could but a few weeks ago both naps started getting shorter and I could tell a change was needed. She has really done so well with the change. I am always a little nervous to alter her schedule but she is transitioning well.

Eliza's current schedule  is:

6:45/7 Wakeup
7:15 Breakfast
9:30 Snack
11:30 Lunch
12:15/30 Nap (usually 2-3 hours)
3/3:30 Snack
5:15/30 Dinner
7 Bedtime

I really love the one longer afternoon nap, especially because it opens up the morning for some fun outings and play dates.

Eliza continues to be a great eater. She definitely has her favorites though.

Breakfast options: Oatmeal, waffles, scrambled egg, blueberries, bananas, oatmeal square cereal, Greek yogurt

Snack options: Yogurt, applesauce, fruit, goldfish, graham crackers

Lunch options: Deli meat, cheese, black beans, grilled cheese, fruit

Dinner options: Lima beans, peas, carrots, beans, sweet potatoes, chicken, ravioli, whatever we are eating :)

At Eliza's 15 Month check-up, which was actually when she turned 16 months, she had the following stats:

Height: 29.5 inches (14th percentile)
Weight: 20 lbs 6 ounces (10th percentile)

She's our itty-bitty little thing. I also learned that she had a double ear infection! She was giving me no indication that she had one or that anything was wrong (except for a constant runny nose, but that's normal these days). I know she had not had it for very long because we had our family trip to the doctor about 10 days prior to her 15 month check-up. She's definitely on the mend and will be going back to the doctor on Friday for a follow-up in addition to a few vaccines. :( I'm sending her daddy to that appointment.

Along with Eliza's bubbly personality has come the first of her toddler tantrums. They seemingly come out of nowhere. One minute she's having a great time playing with her daddy on the floor...

And then this happens...

The smallest frustrations seem to set her off. It's rather pitiful and sometimes funny at this point. I know our sweet and spirited child is going to keep us on our toes in the coming months and years.

One of the sweetest things Eliza has done recently is mimic what I'm doing. The other day that was cleaning. I was wiping down the cabinets and Eliza came over to help. :)

And then she took to wiping down the coffee table. Momma's little helper. I love it!

I can't believe we just have a few more weeks of Eliza being our only child! I'm soaking up this time with her. I can't wait to see little Eliza become a big sister!

Christmas Holidays

Between traveling over Christmas, enjoying Will's long break from KU, decorating a nursery, and now entering nesting-mode I have had little time to sit down and write about all the fun we had with family over the holidays.

We spent just over 2 weeks in Birmingham with Will's family and we could not have had more fun! It was such a treat to spend quality time with everyone.

Granddaddy with his two grandbabies!

Eliza thought the piano was a fun toy.

Eliza and Uncle T have a special relationship! He might have been her favorite! ;)

Uncle Colby reading to the little girls.

Morning snuggles with granddaddy.

Visiting with Will's grandmom.

Christmas Eve service -- Eliza was remarkably quiet during the service since we gave her snacks and the freedom to roam from family member to family member (there were a few to choose from).

Christmas Morning

Sweet kisses from my girl.

Eliza was up early and ready to open gifts.

Eliza's girl cousins dressed in matching Christmas pajamas!

Mimi helping her little ones

One of a few pictures taken with the hubs over Christmas.

Will's favorite Christmas gift-- he finally got some boots!

Poppy drove down from SC for a weekend visit! Eliza had lots of fun playing with him.

Playing in the kids room at the Birmingham Art Museum

Reclining in her baby's carseat. (She does this with Weldon's car seat too)

Being a little mommy

The treacherous driving conditions on our way back to Kansas (plus we were all sick!)

Home Sweet Home!

We had such a fun time in Birmingham and loved all of the quality time with family and friends!
