I loved every second we spent with our family and friends this past month but it sure does feel good to be home!

I think Eliza knows we are back home too! She is sleeping through the night (again!) and having the best time  scooting around the house. She is pulling up on everything and beginning to take steps with her push toys.

Will is busy taking care of our over-grown yard and I have piles of laundry to tend to but we are oh so glad to be back in our home!

9 Months Old

What a fun month! We have basically been living this whole month on the move. You are getting to spend so much time with family and I just love it. You were a little overwhelmed by everyone when we first arrived but you have adjusted to all the attention now and seem to love it.

You are nonstop my darling baby! You are crawling all over the place and even mastering the steps. You knew exactly what you were doing when you approached the steps and scooted up them with no problem (of course I was right behind you).

You are pulling up on anything and everything these days! You are a lot more steady when you pull up these days then when you first started.

This month has been a tough one for teething. Your two bottom middle teeth are coming in and so are your two top middle teeth. You have had a fever several times this month along with cold-like symptoms. I can tell you are in pain at times and just want to snuggle with me (I do love the snuggles but I hate that that you hurt).

Due to the teething and being in a new sleep environment you have been waking up once a night this whole month. It hasn't been too bad though because I feed you and you go right back to sleep.

We are still going strong with breast feeding and I still love it. My goal is to make it to your first birthday.  I debated weaning you off of breast feeding last month but I love the bond I have with you and of course you love it so we are going to keep with it.

You are quite the eater! Whenever it is time for you to eat solids you act like you haven eaten in days! You can't get the food in your mouth fast enough. You make the cutest sounds when you eat too. You are eating mostly finger foods cut up into small pieces. Your favorites are: green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, avocado, banana, blueberries, strawberries, watermelon and peaches.

Your 9 month doctor appointment is next week so we will find out how much you've grown the past 3 months. You are still a little baby but you have certainly grown a lot. You are still in size 2 diapers though I will likely move you into size 3 soon. You wear mostly 6-9 month clothes.

Your daddy and I enjoy every single day with you Eliza-bug. We are having the best time sharing you with our families this month. I don't know if they are going to let us go back to Kansas!

Fishing Expedition

Now I'm not a regular fisherman by any means but every now and then I really enjoy it! I especially love doing it on a boat at the beach! This is the second year we have gone on an inshore fishing trip while staying at Seabrook.

We booked our trip through Bohicket Marina, just up the road from Seabrook. We went out on Thursday morning for about 4.5 hours (my mom kept Eliza, thanks mom!). The weather was overcast because rain and thunderstorms were predicted but they pretty much held off till the very end, so it was a pleasant morning for fishing.

Since I don't know much about fishing specifics I'll just stick with the basics and share pictures! We were fishing for red fish & trout (I just had to ask Will the names because I already forgot). One thing I do recall is that I caught the first fish of the day!

This red fish was very feisty and I was exhausted by the time we got him in the boat. He was too big to keep so after a few pictures he went back to swim with his fishy friends.

Here I am working hard to get him in the boat!

Will caught the second fish of the day, another red (smaller than mine) :)

Then dad caught a bonnet head shark! Yikes! There's NO way I would've held it!

Then Will caught his second red fish, a bit bigger this time.

And finally, I caught the one and only trout of the day. We got to keep this fish and Will sautéed it for us as an appetizer. It was delicious!

One thing I love about fishing with a guide (and my husband) is that the only thing I have to touch is the fishing pole. :) I don't have to put the bait on the line, fix the line if it breaks (not that I even know how) or touch the fish. That's my kind of fishing!

Can't wait to do it again next year!

Seabrook Island

We just had a great week at Seabrook Island in South Carolina with my parents. We have been going to Seabrook for many years now but this year was extra special. It was our first time going to the beach as parents!

I absolutely loved having our sweet little "bug" at the beach with us but it certainly changed the dynamics of vacation!

I told Eliza that we were going on vacation and that while we were at the beach she could sleep in... Well, I think she was really excited we were on vacation and woke up at 5:30 every morning! It didn't matter what time I put Miss Eliza to bed she was up early and ready to play! Thankfully her Poppy wakes up early and he took the early morning shift with her several days so I could sleep an extra hour! (Thanks dad!)

Eliza and I enjoyed going down on the beach in the morning before her nap (while her dad was still sleeping). We let him sleep in most days!

She was very curious about the ocean and showed no hesitation.

We took Eliza in the pool a few times and she tolerated it. She definitely wasn't thrilled about it!

She had a lot more fun crawling in the sand!

Other fun activities included a trip to the playground to swing and slide!

And just playing at the condo-- Eliza is pulling up on just about everything now!

Will and I are very thankful to our in-house babysitters who kept Eliza one evening while Will and I enjoyed a date night at the Fat Hen.

Gigi kept Eliza one morning while Will, my dad and I went on a fishing expedition. More on that in the next post.

For now I'm enjoying the rooftop terrace of our hotel in Charleston while our baby sleeps!

Vacation is almost over...

Thank you mom and dad for a relaxing week at the beach!

Sweet Home Alabama: Part 1

Oh, it's been so good to be back in the South!

Eliza and I flew in on Saturday and spent a few nights with Will's parents. We had the best time! Eliza has so many family and friends that want to get their hands on her. She's doing really well with all of the attention. She is definitely in a mommy phase right now but she's warming up to everyone.

We have been keeping busy since we SIL, Abby, had a wedding shower last that was so much fun! We also spent a lot of time with Will's older sister, Lindsey, and her three children and of course she received much love and affection from her Mimi and Grandad!

Along with some quality family time, Eliza and I also got to see some of my good friends that live in Birmingham-- Jamie and Sarah. Living far away from my sweet friends makes me really appreciate the time we have together!

Jamie was sweet enough to drive Eliza and I to Greenville on Wednesday so we were able to spend even more time with her!

Next stop is the beach! So excited! We have the car packed and we are ready to go (just waiting on a little Eliza to wake up from her nap).
