Eliza at The Oread

This is our new home for the next 4-6 weeks while our house undergoes some major repairs.

While we were visiting family and friends over the holidays a pipe froze and busted in our upstairs guest bathroom leaving much water damage behind. We are so thankful for our neighbor who spotted water rushing out of our garage and down our driveway! He notified the city to turn off our water and a little while later Will received a phone call reporting the unfortunate news.

We had only been in Birmingham for a day when this happened so Will, his dad and brothers loaded up and headed to Kansas to assess the damage -- leaving Eliza and I behind to have fun with family and friends!

Thankfully insurance is covering all of the damage. The house didn't look all that bad but the water did a significant amount of damage. So much so that we are getting a new garage, new carpet and hardwood floors, new vanity and tile in the guest bathroom and the whole house is being repainted.

Although it's inconvenient to be out of our house for several weeks, thanks to our insurance we are getting to stay in the nicest hotel in Lawrence -- which happens to be right on campus so Will gets to walk to work!

Eliza doesn't seem to mind all the changes! She's been so easy and fun to travel around with.

  1. Whoa! How rough! Definitely seems like things are going as smoothly as they can, though... and definitely can't complain about your new accomodations!
