32 Weeks

How Far Along? I can't believe we have less than 8 weeks till we meet Miss Elizal!
Size of Baby? A Squash.
Maternity Clothes? Of course.
Weight Gain? Still haven't been on a scale in awhile but I'm guessing 26-27 pounds?
Stretch Marks? Nope
Gender? eCb
Movement? She's still moving and grooving! :)
Sleep? Great...hoping this keeps up for a little while longer. I have been sleeping with a pile of pillows though.
Food Cravings? Unfortunately lots of sweets this week... especially cinnamon rolls!
What I Miss? I'm really quite content with pregnancy so I'm not really missing anything...
Symptoms? I've noticed that tiredness has been creeping in a little earlier in the day than it was during the 2nd trimester. I took 2 late afternoon naps last week-- those are key!
Belly Button? Out...
Best Moment of the Week? Putting the final touches on Eliza's nursery and going on a little outing to Buy Buy Baby with the hubs. I also really enjoyed the water yoga and water aerobics classes I attended this week-- it felt great to work out again and also do something very low impact and relaxing!

And just to see Eliza's growth over the past 32 weeks here are a few of the weekly photos...

Happenings Around Our Home - Part 2

After a fun weekend in South Carolina I was actually ready to get back to our Mid-Western home! Will and I are having such a good time getting our house set-up. I think two "deadlines" that have helped us stay motivated are Will beginning his PhD program mid-August and Eliza's debut mid-September. So after a few days away from the painting, unpacking & organizing we were excited to get back to it.

First on my to-do list was putting the final coat of paint on the built-in book cases in the living room. Will and I joked that this was the most time consuming project that we tackled... or maybe it's that I'm a pokey painter. Either way I was ready to get them finished because then we could unpack more boxes and get settled. Here's a reminder of how they looked when we moved in...

After:

The other side of the room has the built-in desk.

Before (previous owner's belongings):

After:

I love how the paint brightens up the room and gives it the southern feel I'm familiar with.

Here's another view of the living room from the kitchen. After having the cabinets removed over the counter (on the left) we had recessed lighting added. This is probably one of my favorite additions so far.

We had our new appliances installed last week too!

Next on the to-do list was painting Eliza's nursery furniture. I am using hand-me-down pieces that Will and I had been using in our bedroom that were in desperate need of a fresh coat of paint! Since there is so much pink and girly-ness in her room I painted all of the furniture white to match the crib and tone things down a little bit. :)

After:

While I was busy painting furniture, Will painted the downstairs bathroom, laundry room, AND upstairs bathroom! (He's making all these around-the-house projects happen MUCH faster than I could imagine!)
Upstairs bathroom Before (previous owner's belongings):

After:

This bathroom required a little bit of TLC. We replaced the vanity light, painted the walls Silver Sage and painted the cabinets an antique white. I'm very happy with how it turned out!

When Will finished up the painting he spent several afternoons/evenings last week in the yard. He definitely has his work cut out for him but he is off to a great start!

Before:
It's pretty & green but very forest-like.
After:
Dry & desert-like... but now Will has a bare yard to work with. :)
Believe it or not, when our next door neighbor came by yesterday he commented on how GREAT the yard already looks! :) He said that our yard had not seen the sun in 30 years! Glad we are making a good impression on our neighbors.

Besides the obvious (the yard) we just have a few more things to finish on the inside of the house. I really can't believe how quickly things are coming together and that we will be welcoming Eliza into our home in just a few more weeks!!

31 Weeks

How Far Along? 31 Weeks 3 Days.
Size of Baby? A Pineapple!
Maternity Clothes? Mostly everything is maternity now. However, the dress I'm wearing above is from my "regular" wardrobe.
Weight Gain? I haven't been on the scale in awhile but I'd guess around 25-26 pounds.
Stretch Marks? Still looking good but I'm finally getting bigger...so who knows?
Gender? Sweet Baby Girl!
Movement? More than ever! It's so fun feeling and watching her move my stomach around!
Sleep? It's been great recently.
Food Cravings? Smoothies!
What I Miss? My regular exercise routine. I was exercising 4-5 times a week till about 3 weeks ago when we moved and since then I've been considering all the cleaning and moving around the house as exercise. Later today I'm going to try out my first-ever Water Aerobics class and see how that goes. :)
Symptoms? I learned what my sciatic nerve is last week! Oh my goodness, I have never been in so much constant pain before. Thankfully the pain only lasted for about 12 hours but it was terrible. I learned about a few exercises/stretches to help relieve the pain so I'll be prepared the next time it strikes.
Belly Button? It's officially an outie.
Best Moment of the Week? Celebrating my 25th birthday with my husband in our new hometown and enjoying a delicious meal from our favorite restaurant in Lawrence-- Freestate Brewery.

30 Weeks

How Far Along? 30 Weeks 3 Days. Less than 10 weeks till we meet Eliza!
Size of Baby? A Cucumber.
Maternity Clothes? Yes! In fact many of my staple maternity items are not fitting anymore. I guess I will be wearing many of the same outfits over the next 2 months. I'll be looking forward to my "regular" fall clothes post delivery!
Weight Gain? 24 pounds.
Stretch Marks? Still looking good in this department.
Gender? Miss EB!
Movement? All the time and I can tell her kicks and punches are getting stronger.
Sleep? It was been wonderful lately! I'm sleeping so hard and Will tells me I'm often snoring. (Sorry!)
Food Cravings? Same as it has been... fruit, smoothies, lemonade, etc.
What I Miss? Seeing my toes when I look down at the ground. :)
Symptoms? A tired body by mid-afternoon and occasional leg cramps.
Belly Button? Poking out most of the time.
Best Moment of the Week? Traveling to SC for Ali & Andrew's wedding! I also got to spend some quality time with two of my college buddies, Valerie & Jennifer!
Left: Had a great time staying with Valerie and shopping the baby stores in Columbia.
Right: Jennifer (my 2) and I at the wedding dressed (unintentionally) in our coral dresses!

Happenings Around Our Home

Will and I knew when we bought this house that is wasn't quite a move-in ready home (at least according to our standards). :) So, for the past 2 weeks, since we bought the house, we have had visits from a contractor, electrician, plumber, flooring company, window repair man, tree removal service and AT&T. We, of course, also had the helping hands of family members to paint, clean windows, arrange furniture and run errands with us. Thank you for your help!!

The first thing that had to go was the row of cabinets separating the kitchen from the den. The cabinets made the kitchen feel very small and closed-off. They also kept us from being able to utilize the great counter space.

It's amazing how taking down 5 cabinets transforms both rooms, making it much more spacious! (As you can see, both rooms are still in progress so I'll update this again when the rooms are tidy and decorated.)

Did you notice the lovely kitchen floors? Those are being replaced next week. Oddly enough there are hardwood floors in the rooms adjacent to the kitchen but previous owners decided on this unique flooring instead.

While we are making improvements to the kitchen, we are going to upgrade the appliances (and have them all match). Also, the refrigerator does not have an ice maker (this drives us both crazy!) so we are going to move the old fridge to the garage for storing Will's deer & turkey kills. :) In addition, we are having recessed lighting installed in the kitchen, den and front room.

When Will and I first saw the den in this house it was a selling point for us. We love the size of the room, vaulted ceilings, stone fireplace and built in bookcases & cabinets (on both ends of the room).
Note: Previous owner's belongings.

When we put our furniture in the den we did not include a breakfast table but instead put more distance between the furniture to open things up and also left room for baby essentials like Eliza's bouncy seat & activity mat. (I can't WAIT for her to get here!)

Although I love the built-ins, I knew I wanted to paint them an antique white to brighten up both ends of the room. Thanks to Will and his mom we are almost done with this tedious project.
In progress and I already like them so much better!

One look at the dining room color and you'll know why it had to be painted! Our contractor said that the paint color looks like a blue trying to be a purple-- either way it had to go right away.

We opted for a lighter and more calming Restoration Hardware paint color, Silver Sage. It's amazing what a new paint color will do for a room!

And we found this little gem at a local antique store. Will and I both love farm house tables so we were very excited to stumble across it. I got the parsons chairs from TJ Maxx which I love with the rustic table.

We also knew the yellow walls in the master bedroom had to be painted-- they didn't exactly go with the neutral tones we wanted in the room. Below is the master bedroom when the previous owners were living here.

Here is the master bedroom now. It's still a work in progress but it's already so much better!

If you are still following along, I'm impressed! (Can you tell we are excited about making our mid-western house into a "southern" home?)

Another thing we love about the house is the finished basement. It has a large room (Will's man-cave) with a decent size room off of it (Will's office), a bathroom, laundry room and lots of storage space. Here is a glimpse of the man-cave after painting the blue & yellow walls but before the animals take over. :)

We still have a good bit of decorating and painting to do in the basement but this a start.

Although there is still much to be done inside the home, Will has found time to start the process of taming our yard. The previous owner's really liked the "forest" in their front and back yard. Will likes the forest too...but not in what should be a well-maintained neighborhood yard.
Winston keeping an eye on Will while he works in the front yard.

And last, but certainly not least, we painted Eliza's nursery last weekend! This was by far my favorite room to paint. While we were painting I just kept saying how beautiful I thought the paint color was and that I just can't WAIT for our little daughter to be here! Here is a glimpse of the wall color and crib. The rest of her nursery will get it's own post once everything is completed.

That's about all I have for now. I will continue posting pictures of our home as we get more things done.

Alive & Well

Just wanted to quickly check-in and say that Will and I made it to Lawrence, Kansas last week. We closed on the house last Friday June 29 and started moving in on Saturday afternoon.  We have been busy little bees along with my parents and Will's mom and brother for the past week! I will post pictures (many, I'm sure) of the progress we are making on the house. I'll just say that we have made at least 2 or 3 trips to Home Depot, Sherwin Williams, & Target daily for cleaning supplies, paint, paint supplies, yard equipment, etc. It's a lot of work moving into a new house but we are LOVING it.

I will also catch up on my weekly pregnancy updates over the weekend. I'm 29 weeks today! I can't believe how quickly time is moving now and that little Eliza will be here before we know it!
