27 Weeks

How Far Along? 27 Weeks 3 Days.
Size of Baby? A Rutabaga.
Maternity Clothes? Yes.
Weight Gain? 23 pounds.
Stretch Marks? Not yet.
Gender? Eliza Burke Cunningham
Movement? Yes, she is constantly in motion!
Sleep? I've had some good nights along with a few bad ones this week. I don't have any problem falling asleep but when I wake up around 3 or 4 in the morning to use the bathroom I haven't been able to sleep well the rest of the night. It's made for a few long days this week.
Food Cravings? Refreshing drinks-- lemonade, limeade, etc.
What I Miss? Sleeping with just one pillow. There's hardly room for Will in the bed with the mound of pillows I have next to me. I just remind him that we only have 13 weeks to go! :)
Symptoms? A sore body! We have been doing a lot of packing around here and although I'm not lifting any heavy items it's a lot bending over and moving around.
Belly Button? It's almost an outie!
Best Moment of the Week? Passing my glucose test last Monday. I was well-below the threshold but I was worried with all the sweets I had on Sunday that I might not... The orange sugary drink wasn't as terrible as I heard but I'm glad I won't be drinking it again anytime soon.

Moving Week

I can't believe this week is HERE!

It seems like forever ago (January) that Will received his acceptance letter to the University of Kansas and we made the decision to re-locate to the mid-west!

The same day Will & I found out about his acceptance to KU was also the day we found out that I was pregnant! Talk about a lot of life changes in one afternoon. :)

Since then Will has completed his Masters at the University of Alabama, we travelled to Kansas (first time for me), bought our first house and celebrated the upcoming arrival of Miss Eliza with family & friends.

Now we are just 5 days away from moving!

It's a bittersweet time for me. I love the South and the nearness of family, friends and the familiar...but I am excited about the newness that lies ahead. The way I see it, Will and I are about to embark on a 5 year adventure together. Will's adventuresome spirit and desire to live in the mid-west certainly rubs off on me in a good way! I think of myself as more of a home-body that doesn't like change (or at least has to ease into it...) so this move to Kansas is definitely taking me far outside my comfort zone. I'm ready for it though! I'll let you know how the transition is going once we get there and start getting settled (nesting!).

For now it's time to keep on organizing and packing for our move to Lawrence, Kansas!

Showered with Love in Tuscaloosa

Last Saturday my friends in Tuscaloosa showered me and Eliza with love! The shower was held at Perry's house and many of the friends I have made at our church attended. Perry has such a lovely home so I always enjoy a reason to be there!

Perry, Mary Grace, and Nita were the gracious hostesses of the shower. (Unfortunately, I hardly have any pictures from this shower because I always rely on my SIL for that!) I do, however, have a picture of the lovely flowers they arranged. Aren't they beautiful?

And here are a couple with some friends who came to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Eliza!

Left: We are all mommas-to-be :)
Right: Allie & I are just 3 days apart.
Although Will and I are moving away from Tuscaloosa in a little less than a week, we are so thankful for the friendships we have made and the church we belong to! Thank you for showering us with love on this particular day and during the two years we lived in Tuscaloosa.

Showered with Love

On Sunday we celebrated the upcoming arrival of Miss Eliza! Will's aunts graciously hosted the beautiful baby shower in Birmingham. My parents travelled from Greenville for the special occasion too!

Left: Eliza's Gigi & Mimi
Column: Gigi & the baby bump, sweet friends, Will's aunts (the hostesses)

I am so thankful for the family and friends who came to celebrate Eliza and showered her with many wonderful gifts! I had such a fun time being with everyone and thinking about my sweet girl arriving in just a couple more months!

Top Left: Monogrammed gown from Mimi
Top Right: My niece, Ellie Jane, helping me open gifts.
Bottom Left: Baby Carhartts from Eliza's daddy!
Bottom Right: Baby Shower Invitation design turned into nursery decor! Thanks Jordans!
Loving my little ones sweet cotton gowns!

Everything at the shower was so beautiful and girly! My mother-in-law picked out a beautiful cake with Eliza's monogram on it. :) My sister-in-law, Lindsey, made the flower arrangements and Will's aunts prepared a delicious spread of food.

Many thanks to Abby for taking all the pictures and capturing these sweet memories!

Maternity Clothes? A definite yes!
Weight Gain? 20ish pounds. :)
Stretch Marks? Not yet.
Gender? GIRL!
Movement? YES, like crazy! This little girl wakes me up in the middle of the night with her movement. I do love it though!

Food Cravings? Homemade popsicles! I can't wait to try Steel City Pops, a new popsicle shop in Birmingham.
What I Miss? Not too much.

Best Moment of the Week? Having my first baby shower for Eliza yesterday! More to come on that special event later this week...

Beach Trip (Part 2)

Thanks to our great family photographer, my SIL, Abby we have lots of pictures from our beach trip!

Some of my favorite captured moments are jewelry making with my niece and nephew, Ellie Jane and John. Ellie Jane, John and I (along with their momma, Lindsey) were up early most mornings and they would help me make necklaces and bracelets. They were great little helpers!
We were both very focused.
So proud!
My other cute jewelry designer!
We took some organized family photos one evening. We also had Abby capture a few baby bump shots (and maybe a few cheesy ones too)! I think we will take more maternity shots a little later on in the pregnancy when the bump is bigger!

Will with his dad & brothers
And a little silliness...
Thank you Momma C and Bill for a wonderful trip to the beach! We are so thankful for a vacation with the whole family.

Beach Trip (Part 1)

I just got back from a fun and relaxing week at the beach with Will's family. We spent the week in a perfect beach house in Watercolor with Will's parents, siblings and a niece & nephew (12 of us).

We had a great time playing in the pool and laying out on the beautiful beach. It was so much fun having two little ones to play with and it made me look forward to having one of our own in a few short months! Lindsey, my SIL, is pregnant with her third (due 1 week after me)!

Ellie Jane (3 1/2) & John (2)
23 weeks!

We ate very well at the beach and enjoyed family bonding over the delicious meals!
Me & Lindsey
Low-country boil
Pizza Night

The young couples went out to dinner together one night at Local Catch (such a great restaurant, we actually went back the next night too!) and had dessert at La Crema in Rosemary Beach.

More to come...
